Small Animal Boarding

Should owners fail to uplift their pet within 7 days of the return date, then Happy Paws reserve the right to re-home the animal.  All owners are therefore advised to contact Happy Paws immediately if they are unable to uplift the pet on the arranged date.

All owners should advise of their wishes should their pet unfortunately die while boarding at Happy Paws.

No refunds given for clients returning home early.

All animals should arrive with their own supply of food which shall be labelled for their use only. Any remaining food shall be returned to the owner at the end of the stay. This is to minimise upsetting your pets delicate digestive system throughout their stay.  If your animal requires specialist fresh fruit/vegetables/live food then an additional feeding cost shall apply.  This feeding cost shall vary depending on the dietary needs of the animal.

If the animal is insured then paperwork should be left when booking animal into boarding accommodation.

All animals should be caged/housed, however I do have a few spare cages/hutches which can be hired.

Happy Paws Fife agrees to provide appropriate food and fresh water daily. All cages shall be cleaned on a regular basis.

Should you wish your animal to have outside exercise, then a disclaimer shall be signed prior to commencement of this service.

Happy Paws Fife shall endeavour to minimise the risk and spread of ill health or disease by:

  • Carrying out an initial visual inspection of the boarder upon arrival.  No pet suffering from or suspected to be suffering from any infectious or contagious disease can be accepted to board with us.

  • Avoiding contact between the boarders, unless they have come to board as a pair or more and already live together.

  • Requiring, wherever practical, that the owner provide their own pet's familiar, escape proof housing to help reduce  stress to the board that change or environment may cause.

  • Happy Paws Fife can request that any boarding animals can provide proof of vaccinations prior to boarding.

  • Happy Paws Fife reserve the right to treat any boarding animal for fleas/mites/myxomatosis during their stay should it become evident that there is a possibility of infestation.  The cost of administering the flea/mite/myxo treatment shall be passed onto the owners accordingly.

Pop in Service

Happy Paws Fife will not be responsible for any keys the client had asked to be mailed.

Any keys kept by Happy Paws Fife shall be stored securely.

A 50% deposit shall be required to secure long-term pop-in visits. This applies for visits lasting more than 7 days. The remaining balance to be paid when the keys are dropped off at Happy Paws.

Happy Paws Fife reserve the right to alter or cancel this service in the event of adverse weather, e.g heavy snow. If this occurs, the Happy Paws reserves the right to either carry out the visit at a later time that day, and if necessary, only carry out one daily visit if snow prevents a further visit.  Should it be deemed impossible to travel to carry out visits, then we shall inform the client accordingly and refund any monies due.

Dog Walking Service

Happy Paws reserve the right that in the event of adverse weather conditions that a walk shall not be carried out. e.g heavy snow.  Happy Paws shall spend the allocated time within the owner's home and ensure that the dog has adequate mental and physical stimulation and toileting opportunities.  Should the weather conditions be so severe that travel is impossible, then we shall inform the owner immediately, and refund any monies due.

Group walks are available, however this is dependent on the individual dog, his needs and his temperament. I shall make a decision upon meeting the dog and assessing his personality whether he would be happy with any of my other clients dogs.  If I feel that a group walk is possible, then I shall advise the owners before commencing the group walks.  Happy Paws reserve the right not to carry out group walks should I feel that this would cause distress to any dog under my care whilst out walking.  All dogs are expected to have either good re-call off lead or be able to walk on lead without causing injury to myself.  If upon commencing a walk that it is found that the dog has not been trained sufficiently to walk on lead or to recall when off then I reserve the right to cancel walks.  This is purely in the interest of ensuring that I do not sustain injury's due to dogs continually pulling on leads.

Clients must give a minimum of one week's notice if the usual dog walking service is not required.  Full payment will be required for cancellations within one week.
